Our Courses

Courses

Shield Training was set up by a state registered paramedic with 20 years experience.
Our aim is to provide our customers, whether they are employers, employees or the general public with highly professional "hands-on" training courses that provide you with the skills to manage in emergency situations.

First Aid at work (FAW)

Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and the Level 3 award in first aid at work qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose.

First Aid at Work, Refresher

This course is suitable for anyone who has already attended the First Aid at work, 18 hours content, within the last 3 years and are looking to refresh their skills.
The course content is based on that of the First Aid at work, 18 hour course, however as participants may be more knowledgeable in some elements of the course we teach at a participant led pace, focusing on elements in great detail if required.

Paediatric First Aid

This fully certificated qualification satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and OFSTED. Our 12 hour training sessions include a variety of First Aid Priorities.
For those who work with children regularly this course will allow you to work confidently and competently knowing that you can react positively and appropriately to a number of different first aid incidents involving children or infants.

Paediatric First Aid Skills – Parent/Carer

We run very popular and successful parent/carer first aid sessions. These sessions cover basic skills that will provide parents/carers with peace of mind that they can react effectively to an emergency situation involving their child.

Appointed Persons First Aid

Options available: Standard, Schools, Social care, Sports. The Appointed Person First Aid course will provide participants with the essential skills required to manage an emergency situation until someone more qualified arrives to take over. This course is also the minimum acceptable by the HSE for First Aiders in small low risk companies.

AED Training (Automatic Defibrillator)

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone, it knows no boundaries! It is a proven fact that early use of a defibrillator is the only effective treatment for SCA.
Our course teaches the essential skills that an AED operator needs and gives participants the confidence to know what to do in an emergency.
Defibrillators are very simple to operate and no previous training is required to attend this course.
Participants will be observed throughout the session by the instructor to ensure they are confident and competent in first aid skills. Upon successful completion participants will be issued with a certificate.

    Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate approved by the Health and Safety Executive.
    This qualification is valid for three years and can be renewed by attending a suitable Two-Day re-qualification course.

    • Eye and Ear Injuries
    • Regulations (Recording and Reporting)

    The learners will be assessed and tested continually throughout by the instructor and on successful completion learners will receive a certificate in paediatric first aid.
    We also run tailored courses flexibly around your needs. If your organisation needs to run the course over more than two days or not consecutively, due to staffing or other reasons then please enquire about our tailored courses.

    • The Unconscious Casualty Management (Primary & Secondary Survey)

    Participants will be observed throughout the session by the instructor to ensure they are confident and competent in first aid skills. Upon successful completion participants will be issued with an appointed persons first aid certificate.
